Its like having an exploited system on day 1 and having no homebrew created or tools yet. What if I do update? Well, you will have the ability to exploited system again it appears but not much to do quite yet. This release is for developer's only at this time so various projects can be updated. Currently we have one of the pieces already out of the way with the release of 4.85.1 Hybrid Firmwarefrom Again its not advised to update at this time.

How long can this process take? a few days maybe a week, depends on how busy various developer's are at this time. So, while the pasters look green to this point there are tools and exploits that need to be updated and if you go on 4.85 now its will be nothing there yet and boring.

So, now that 4.85 has been leashed upon us, What does it mean for the user's who have exploited with exploits like PS3HEN? As expected 4.85 will be no match for developer's (as Sony did not put much of a fight or effort it appears in the early prognosis), HOWEVER ITs ADVISED TO STAY ON 4.84? Why? The simple answer is everything else needs to catch up, while this was a maintenance update and early observation not much was to address the current exploits from early research from community developer's. (PS3 on 4.85 OFW, scanning USB & recognizing new 4.85.1) While the PS3 is being phased out in many ways, the Security Team has been a dead sector over at Sony PS3 HQ for sometime, but then again they may not of been the best team for the task, as we all know what happened back on firmware 3.55 and the 'oh shit' moment that team went through with the bad security implementation that was discovered and thus lead to PS3 CFW for all of us, so maybe that team was not so bad. Somewhat surprising (since PSN is still active) but it makes sense, with the PlayStation 5 on the doorstep. While it was apparent during the past two exploits, as they went nearly a year (with each exploit) without seeing a patch for a softmod, that has kind of shown Sony's hand with its dealing and future intentions with the PS3. It appears ( developers are still investigating) Sony has essentially given up that classic 'Cat & Mouse' game with the PS3 Homebrew Scene. 4.85 Official Firmware is now Live !!! Here is what you need to knowWell it took awhile from Sony, but its confirmed they finally got around to pushing a new firmware update with the release of version 4.85 for the PS3.
