Japanese is a subject-object-verb language, so if there's a mystery story where a character says the subject and object and then gets shot before they can say the verb that would make the meaning of the sentence clear, how on Earth are you gonna write that in English in a way that preserves the presumably-plot-important details of what exactly was and was not said? Other examples could be a speaker hissing a phrase and then shouting the last word, or a sentence that gets cut off halfway through, or one character completing another's sentence.
